Paul Joseph at the water park

Paul Joseph at the water park?
This is a portrait I made of the son of our fine friends, the Lorenzes. Paul is very talented in sports and?computer games. Here we find him in one of his natural habitats.

For this portrait, I used Gertrudis Pro for the painterly effect, and an FM Tile Tools Photoshop filter called "Blend Emboss" to enhance the texture. Blend Emboss will emboss the surfaces of a digital photo without changing the hue and saturation of the image. Most emboss plugins will change all hues to shades of grey.

The final image was lightly coated with a free Photoshop plug-in called Xero Clarity to restore some of the detail in Paul’s face. It is O.K. to allow brush strokes to impinge on various areas, as it adds to the painterly effect. Here, some of the white strokes are intentionally left in Paul’s hair while other strokes allow colors to bleed into one another, to add to the energy and spontaneity of the image.
